Boys pick up odd things – a snail, a pebble, a leaf, a dead beetle, a chrysalis, a bit of sheep’s wool on a fence – and their pockets soon come to resemble birds’ nests. The contents of the pocket have no intrinsic money value but they do have great sentimental value to their owner. They become a microcosm of the local landscape, of the boy’s habitats and haunts.

Reminded me of matchbox collections.

If you live in Brighton you may have seen or heard of Mr Lion.  He owns a few pubs in town and is pretty distinctive looking.  Well, he was out last night, and with Chris Eubank.  I wouldn’t normally waffle on about this sort of thing, but today I stumbled across this image, and imagined this is possibly how Mr Lion spends his evenings.

This has made my day it really has.  I saw Iain twittering about what todo at the weekend - emails were on the list of things todo.  Then I saw people’s response, suggesting some slightly more interesting real world stuff todo.  I didn’t think much more of it until this morning.  Iain spent the weekend learning to knit, making butter, making a fort and lots of other things.  This is what happens when you switch your computer off and it’s lovely and inspiring.
